The Zookeepers / Signals
True To These Times ...And Those Times Too split 12"

The Zookeepers' "True To These Times" is a five-track odyssey which finds the Cape Cod trio at the peak of their multifarious exotic basement sound, rife with indecisive cultural commentary undoubtedly true to these times: music for millennials. The EP is heavily based on the band's 2011 live show and was recorded as live as possible to reflect that electric sound.

On "...And Those Times, Too", Signals deliver eight tracks of their most rambunctious digi-punk sounds. Although now Signals is now the solo project of Jon Gray, the EP was recorded by the trio of ex-Mae Shi bandmates Jon Gray, Bill Gray and Jacob Cooper just after the split of the L.A. noise pop band. The arrangements are tight and sounds is electrified. Busy guitar work and hyper-animated synths frantically weave in and out of each other while singer Jon Gray's sugar rush shriek bounces all over. Sleek production and a Top 40 mix from ex-Shi pop wizard Brad Breeck effectively tames the Signals sound for your home listening pleasure, raw energy intact.

True to these times, it's noisy. True to these times, it refrains from genuine human emotion, but true to these times, it still attempts to instill inspiration. True to these times, it's faux revolutionary. True to these times, it's actually revolutionary. True to these times, it's recycling old material. True to these times, it's mostly live. True to these times, it thinks Breaking Bad is the greatest drama in TV history, but true to these times, it's totally into Twin Peaks as well. True to these times, it hails Satan. True to these times, it has a fashion blog, whatever. True to these times, it has a short attention span. DRUGS. True to these times, itŐs hopeless and falling apart and intentional etc. etc. etc.
